Singapore Cricket Association is the official governing body of the sport of cricket in Singapore with its current headquarters in Stadium Crescent. Singapore Cricket Association is Singapore's representative as an associate member of the International Cricket Council since 1974. Singapore Cricket Association is also a member of Asian Cricket Council and the Singapore National Olympic Committee. SINGAPORE CRICKET ASSOCIATION was constituted as a society on 4th of November 1965. SINGAPORE CRICKET ASSOCIATION's vision is to develop the game by making cricket a recognised and enjoyable sport for all levels and ages of players in Singapore by embedding cricket into the cultures and passion of the people of Singapore. Singapore is currently ranked 23 in the ICC global ranking outside of the test playing countries and ranked No. 1 in the Asian Cricket Council ranking. Singapore Cricket Association has also won the "Pepsi ICC Best Overall Development Programme" award for two consecutive years in 2006 and 2007. SINGAPORE CRICKET ASSOCIATION's domestic scene has more than 100 teams participating in the SINGAPORE CRICKET ASSOCIATION league spread over 6 divisions for the club competition, 2 corporate league divisions for Singapore based companies. SINGAPORE CRICKET ASSOCIATION also runs the national school's championships in three divisions and other ad hoc tournaments for the schools. The first women's league was put into place this year with 3 teams participating in the inaugural season. On the international scene, Singapore won the ICC World Cricket League Division 6 in 2009 and is currently placed in WCL division 5. The national team is currently preparing to move up in the WCL when they play in the Division 5 tournament, which is also being hosted by SINGAPORE CRICKET ASSOCIATION in Singapore in February 2012. | |
