DAV WHATMORE AND TOM MOODY IN SINGAPORE

Current IPL and former international coaches Dav Whatmore (Kolkata Knight Riders) and Tom Moody (Punjab Kings XI) will be in Singapore from June 25th - 27th to conduct a unique and cutting-edge High Performance Coaching Clinic for kids (aged 11-19) and they will also speak at a dinner. Please find details attached.

 

This a rare opportunity for youngsters to meet and learn from 2 of the best coaches in the modern game. Dav Whatmore famously led Sri Lanka to their 1996 World Cup win and brought the best out of Bangladesh as they beat Australia, India, South Africa and Sri Lanka when he was coach. Tom Moody is a double World Cup winner with Australia as a player and took Sri Lanka to the 2007 World Cup final as coach.

 

During their High Performance Clinic, Whatmore & Moody will be using Silicon Coach computer software to analyse each young cricketer's performance via video recording. Each cricketer will then have individual analysis sessions with one of these coaches.

 

During the dinner, Whatmore & Moody will talk about their playing and coaching careers as well take questions from the audience. Topics covered will include the IPL and current cricket  events.

SINGAPORE U-13 TOUR TO JAKARTA

Singapore U-13 team 20 member squad went to Jakarta from 31st May to 5th June 2010 for a development tour.  Indonesia Cricket Association hosted an 8 A side tournament in which 16 teams participated. The Singapore U-13 development squad was split into 2 teams and played in the tournament.

 

Mr. Sarika was in-charge of the Singapore Dashers and Mr. Mahesh was with Singapore Hurricanes. “Both teams performed exceptionally well and the tour was a success”, said Manager/Coach Mr. Sarika Prasad. He added saying that “The host accepted our request and gave us a green signal to participate only in the group stage as it was a local tournament”. “Most of the teams were U-17 boys, Although they have just started playing cricket our U-13 showed courage to take on the bigger boys and played very positive cricket”, said Coach Mr. Mahesh.

SINGAPORE U-16 TOUR TO HONG KONG - TEAM ANNOUNCED

Singapore Under-16 team will tour Hong Kong from 14 June to 19 June 2010 for a development tour and will play 4 matches against the Hong Kong development squads. The team is scheduled to depart on 14 June and return on 19 June 2010.

VIJAY DAHIYA COACHING CLINIC

Maxim Global Sports is organizing a Cricket Coaching Clinic for junior cricket players in Singapore supported by Singapore Cricket Association. The clinic will be held during June School Holidays in Singapore (from 7th-11th June). Vijay Dahiya from India to lead the camp as a coach. The sole objective of the Clinic is to nurture sporting talent and promote Cricket in Singapore.

 

Coach Profile: Vijay Dahiya is a coach for Delhi Ranji Team for last 3 yrs. He is also an assistant coach for IPL team, Kolkata Knight Riders. Vijay has also represented the Indian Cricket Team as a wicket Keeper-batsman in both one day internationals and test matches. Currently, Vijay is running two cricket academies in Delhi.

SCA U-19 SELECTION TRIALS

SCA will be conducting selection trials for the Singapore Under-19 squad on Monday, 28 June 2010 at 3.30pm at Ceylon Sports Club cricket ground.

Players born on or after 01 January 1991 will be eligible for selection. The SCA coaching team comprising of Saad Khan Jajua,  & Venkatramana will shortlist the players for final selection to represent Singapore to tour to South Africa from 25 November to 06 December 2010.

All players are requested to come in cricket white’s attire and bring their own kit and report to the venue at 3.15pm to the SCA Panel of coaches.

Job Opening: CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER

With cricket being the fastest growing sport in Singapore, the time has come for the Singapore Cricket Association (SCA) to appoint a Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to head its operations.

SCA seeks to appoint on a fixed term basis, an experienced, dynamic and energetic individual to lead and manage its activities. The successful candidate will report to the SCA Executive Committee and will implement and spearhead the overall vision and strategic direction of SCA’s cricket and commercial operations. The position carries an attractive salary package with benefits commensurate with experience.

The CEO will be a non-executive member of the Executive Committee and will, on a day to day basis, be responsible to, and work closely with the President and the Executive Committee.

The CEO would be responsible for delivering the following key duties:

ø  Overall responsibility for the day to day administration and financial activities of SCA.

ø  Effective corporate governance and compliance with statutory requirements

ø  Planning, managing, implementation and regular overviews of long term business strategies

ø  Development planning of National youth and women’s programmes

ø  Financial performance, management and accountability including preparation of Annual Reports, Budgets and Funding Reports

ø  Administration and arrangements of SCA’s AGM and Executive Committee Meetings as well as sub-committee meetings.

ø  Responsibility for developing SCA’s organisation, overseeing performance, conduct and welfare of all SCA staff and regular preparation of staff appraisals

ø  Overseeing all marketing, fund-raising, communication and promotional activities and identifying sponsorship and other funding activities

ø  Management of assets and facilities, activities and events

ø  National Team affairs

ø  Management of relations with the International Cricket Council (ICC), Asian Cricket Council (ACC),    Singapore Sports Council (SSC), other related sporting bodies, and sponsors and stakeholders.

 

The CEO should have the following skills and competencies:

ø  Sound knowledge of information and computer technology

ø  Tertiary qualification, preferably degree level or equivalent

ø  Minimum of 5 years in a senior management level position preferably with financial and commercial  experience

ø  Be an analytical and creative manager with strong leadership skills who works well under pressure

ø  Experience in sport, particularly cricket administration, would be advantageous

ø  Excellent business acumen, interpersonal and project management skills

Applications should also provide an indication of when the applicant would be available to commence but this would not preclude anyone with the right credentials from being considered. SINGAPORE UNDER-16 SELECTION TRIALS
